Plans for Public Masses
“Public” Masses have resumed
Please note that Sunday obligation is still waived, we are only at 25% capacity,
there are no restrooms available at any of the three worship sites, before, during or after Mass.
Masks are required upon entering the building and are to be worn until you exit the building.
Please arrive 30-45 minutes before Mass begins but not earlier, you will be counted while in your car,
and checked in, meaning you will have to provide us with names, phone numbers, emails and answer questions
You will be shown where to park and enter through one door and wait to be escorted to a seat.
If you are vulnerable, or not feeling well please do not come to Mass
Doors will close 5 minutes before Mass begins but the entrances to the parking lots will close 10-15 minutes before so we have enough time to register you, allow you to park and be escorted to your seat.
If we are filled to capacity before that time we will have to close the entrance earlier.
Please be patient and understanding with our volunteers and the protocols we have been given to follow.

A message from our pastor, Fr. Steve
By now you know that all masses (except funerals and weddings) and other parish-related activities have been cancelled until further notice. While all daily and weekend masses are cancelled, each of our worshiping communities have a local place to go and be in the presence of God in the Real Presence of Jesus, the Blessed Sacrament. In Cairo, St. Catherine of Siena Chapel is on the parish grounds of Sacred Heart (which is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week), in East Durham, Our Lady of Knock Shrine (is open 10am until 6pm), and in Greenville, St. John the Baptist Church (is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Even though we’ll miss receiving Holy Communion and being present to one another, we can be close to each other in prayer and close to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
While our hearts ache for those affected by this worldwide virus, we must do our limited, but important, part by helping to stem its growth in our community, by staying away from social engagement, to the best of our ability. However, perhaps even more important is to ensure the safety and well-being of our vulnerable, elderly and homebound, by reaching out to them and helping as needed. If you know of anyone who needs assistance, or if you, yourself need assistance, please call either parish office.
As of today, March 17, 2020, we do not know how long we will not be permitted or able to gather together in prayer. However, we can pray as individuals and as a community of faith from home. While the greatest of prayer is being together with the Eucharist, there is still the power of the Holy Spirit that we can call on to help us get through this challenging time.
Let us pray for one another, those who have contracted this disease, those who have died from it, and their family and loved ones. Let us also pray for all the medical and research personnel who are trying to help those affected, while working under very stressful conditions. Let us never forget the power of prayer!
As always, if you or someone you know needs the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, please let me know. If you need medical attention, please contact your doctor, the nearest urgent care facility or (as a last resort), call 911.
